New York Mets beat Atlanta Braves on Brandon Nimmo’s home run

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo, who did not start the game due to a side injury, hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift the New York Mets over the Atlanta Braves, 4-3.

The Mets avoided being swept during the three-game series and won for only the seventh time in 19 games. The Braves’ four-game winning streak came to an end.

Nimmo, who left the game after four innings in Saturday’s 4-1 loss because of a right intercostal muscle strain, entered Sunday as a pinch runner for DJ Stewart in the seventh inning.

The Braves broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth, when Marcell Ozuna delivered his second RBI single of the night, and the Mets fell down in order in the bottom of the inning before coming back in the ninth against AJ Minter (5- 3). ).

Jeff McNeil had a bunt single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tomas Nido. Nimmo then hit a 3-2 pitch over the fence into the right-center fence for his second career home run.
