X account Trump is using to attack judge’s daughter doesn’t even belong to her, court rep says

Donald Trump’s bitter attacks on the daughter of a judge presiding over the former president’s upcoming hush money trial have no factual basis, a spokesman for New York’s Office of Court Administration told The Daily Beast on Wednesday evening.

Less than a day after Judge Juan Merchan issued a limited gag order barring the former president from publicly prosecuting prosecutors, court staff and their family members, Trump released an unhinged diatribe targeting both Merchan and his 34-year-old daughter – referring to an alleged X post – formerly Twitter – that she had written and that showed him behind bars.

“Judge Juan Merchan, who suffers from an acute case of Trump Deangement Syndrome (whose daughter represents Crooked Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff and other radical liberals), just posted a picture of me behind bars, her apparent Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday morning. the social media clone he started after he was banned from the microblogging site for inciting violence.

The only problem, said OCA spokesman Al Baker, is that the account in question does not belong to Judge Merchan’s daughter.

“The X account, formerly Twitter, attributed to Judge Merchan’s daughter, no longer belongs to her since she deleted it approximately a year ago,” he said. “It is not linked to her email address, nor has she posted under that pseudonym since deleting the account.

“Rather, it represents the recovery and manipulation last April of an account that she had long ago abandoned.”

After his first post, Trump immediately posted “Page 2” of his inflammatory, misleading message, writing, “So, let me be clear, the judge’s daughter is allowed to post pictures of her ‘dream’ of putting me in jail.” Manhattan District Attorney is able to tell any lie he wants about me, the judge can violate our laws and our Constitution at every turn, but I am not allowed to speak about the attacks against me and the crazy people who are trying , destroy my life and prevent me from winning the 2024 presidential election that I dominate? Maybe the judge is such a hater because his daughter makes money advocating for “Trump,” and if he keeps ruling against me, he’s making her company and her richer and richer. How can this be allowed?”

Merchan’s daughter is the president of a political consulting firm that has worked for Democratic candidates. Merchan and others have been bombarded with death threats since Trump’s indictment.

Trump, who faces a total of four criminal cases, has tried to postpone them all until after the election in November 2024. In the case overseen by Merchan, Trump faces a 34-count indictment accusing him of falsifying business records in connection with a $130,000 hush-money payment he made to attorney/corporate agent Michael Shortly before the 2016 presidential election Cohen is said to have referred adult film star Stormy Daniels’ choice to conceal their alleged sexual encounter. Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges and continues to claim he never had sex with Daniels.

Trump’s lawyers argued to their client that “the presumptive Republican nominee and front-runner in the 2024 election… must have full access to the electorate to respond to attacks from political opponents and to criticize these public figures.”

However, Merchan wrote in his decision Tuesday that Trump’s “out-of-court statements went well beyond defending himself against ‘attacks’ from ‘public figures.'” The former commander-in-chief’s claims were “threatening, inflammatory (and) denigrating” and directed to everyone from local and state officials to court employees and “private citizens, including grand jurors, carrying out their civic duties.”

“The consequences of these statements included not only fear on the part of the individual concerned, but also the deployment of increased security resources to investigate threats and protect the individuals and their family members,” Merchan wrote.

Merchan’s gag order is deliberately tailored to protect Trump’s First Amendment rights and does not specifically prohibit the ex-POTUS from saying whatever he wants about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Merchan or their families.

Up to this point, Merchan has given Trump a surprising amount of leeway, saying at Trump’s impeachment in April 2023, “I’m going out of my way to make sure he’s given every possible opportunity to advance his candidacy and win.” to support his candidacy.”

On Tuesday morning, before Merchan issued the gag order, Trump took aim at the judge’s bias against him while praising his appearance.

“Judge Juan Merchan, a very distinguished-looking man, is nonetheless a true and certified Trump hater who suffers from a very severe case of Trump Deangment Syndrome,” Trump posted online. “In other words, he hates me! His daughter is an executive at a super liberal Democrat firm that works for Adam “Shifty” Schiff, the Democratic National Committee, the (Dem) Senate Majority PAC, and even Crooked Joe Biden. He recently served as a judge in an unrelated case against a long-term employee who was elderly and in poor health. This judge treated him viciously and told him either you cooperate or I will put you in prison for 15 years. He pleaded and went to prison for very minor offenses, which was highly unusual, served four months in Rikers, and now they’re after him again, this time for allegedly lying (doesn’t look like a lie to me!), and they have threatened him again with 15 years if he doesn’t say something bad about “TRUMP”. He is devastated and scared! These country-destroying villains and thugs have no case against me. WITCH HUNT!”

A short time later, he posted again, claiming without a shred of evidence that Bragg had filed charges against him “in close coordination with Crooked Joe Biden’s people/campaigns.” Trump called the case “ridiculous,” calling star witness and former Trump fixer Michael Cohen a “convicted liar and felon” and prosecutor Mark Pomerantz a “scumbag lawyer.”

“Judge Merchan should retire, he can’t give me a fair trial,” Trump’s post continued. “For the sake of fairness, this trial of ‘political opponents’ should also take place in Staten Island, with a new and unbiased judge. The process should not begin in the middle of my presidential campaign. You could have filed more than three years ago – YOU WAIT! This is another witch hunt aimed at election interference!!!”

If Trump is found to be violating the gag order, he could be arrested for contempt of court and fined or jailed. A court spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
