First Alert Forecast: Track Storms

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A cloudy Mother’s Day for your Sunday with occasional showers. But our main focus should be tonight and Monday. Isolated severe storms are possible this evening, especially south of I-20. The Storm Prediction Center has declared a low threat with a rating of 1 out of 5. Be prepared for damaging wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. Then on Monday, most of us will reach level 2 out of 5. Severe thunderstorms can produce damaging wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out. First Alert radar modeling expects showers and a few thunderstorms to develop this afternoon around 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Storms develop after sunset. Watch out for severe weather during its time, including heavy rains. There is a risk of flash flooding on Monday as we expect 5 to 10 cm of rain in some areas.

We will see sunshine mid-week, but it will be short-lived. Another cold front will cause thunderstorms again late Thursday into Friday and persistent showers over the weekend.
